    Shagreen, the richly textured hide of a stingray, has symbolized sophistication and luxury for centuries. The exotic skin first appeared on Japanese swords during the Middle Ages. Eventually, it reached its full potential as a fabric in the Art Deco era, covering furnishings in the homes of French aristocrats. Today the faux fabric radiates fashion thanks to its refined, organic structure.
