Make Sure Your Beach Towel is Made of Natural Fibers
Most beach towels are made with very low-quality cotton. This is because they do not need to be as absorbent as bath towels, since the heat from the beach will be doing most of the drying. While this is true, we believe that there are plenty of good reasons to be using beach towels with higher quality strands, such as long-staple cotton.
By using a higher quality type of cotton beach towel, you are ensuring that you’ll be able to dry off if the beach weather isn’t at its hottest, plus you’ll be a lot more comfortable because of the higher thread count. Because more cotton is used, these types of beach towels last for a very long time and can take a lot more wear and tear than your standard towel. For this reason, we recommend the Aveiro Beach Towels by Graccioza. It is made of the finest Egyptian cotton GIZA fibers, making it incredibly sophisticated and comfortable.

Know Your Different Types of Towel Weaves
Even if your towel is the right material, how that towel is woven together matters just as much. Typically, bath towels come in a sateen or percale weave, but beach towels are a bit different. Like bath towels, beach towels share the terry weave style which uses extra-long uncut loops of cotton. One towel we offer with this weave style is the Mareta Beach Towel by SFERRA. Made with Woven Turkish Terrycloth, the Mareta Beach Towel has a design reminiscent of Hawaiian cabana clubs of yesteryear.

Then there’s the Jacquard weave, which involves weaving threads into the towel in order to create an intricate design. An example of this would be the Leopard Beach Towel by Yves Delorme. It has an expertly crafted design that does not compromise with comfort or absorbency. It’s perfect for relaxing along the water.

How Important is Thread Count for a Beach Towel?
Thread count for a beach towel matters differently than it does for bed sheets. Instead, towels focus on a different metric known as GSM (grams per square meter), which is a measure of density and weight. When it comes to towels, the higher the GSM count, the thicker and more absorbent the towel is, but the lower the GSM the quicker the towel will dry. Typically, you’ll want to look for a towel that’s in between 400-600 GSM, depending on your personal preference.
