The History of SFERRA
Coming across the Atlantic in 1891, Gennaro Sferra came to the United States to sell Italian lace, collars, and cuffs to many societal “tastemakers” along the East Coast. This led to SFERRA building a reputation as a provider of fine and exclusive linens. Thanks to them establishing a strong early impression, this gave Gennaro just the head start he needed to broaden the business's horizons over the next few decades. In the 1930s, Gennaro added table linens to the ever-growing line of products that SFERRA offers.
In the same decade, Gennaro was joined by his two sons, Enrico and Albert, in running the business. Their combined knowledge in textile craftsmanship. With their help, SFERRA continued to redefine the entire linens industry. As time went on, Albert would have the wonderful idea to standardize the use of long-staple cotton for bed linens. This idea would go on to start what they simply refer to as their Celeste Collection.
SFERRA History in the 21st Century
After further growth and changing ownership, in 2001, SFERRA was the first company to create 1020 thread count linens. Later in 2008, SFERRA unveiled a wide array of Egyptian cotton bedding, otherwise known as the SFERRA Giza 45 Collection. These collections have gone on to become one of their biggest bestsellers.
