Steps to Take in Washing Your Silk Sheets and Pillowcases
Before you do ANYTHING regarding your new silk products, make sure you read the manufacturer's instructions first. Some silk sheets or pillowcases may require different care instructions from what we provide. Also be sure to wash them in the instructed way BEFORE using them yourself.
1. Typically, silk sheets and pillowcases require a cold-water cycle. Some top of the line washing machines have a setting just for silk products or other delicate products!
2. DO NOT put silk sheets or pillowcases in the same load as other clothing or linen material. Make sure that the silk flat sheet and fitted sheet are in separate mesh laundry bags for their own protection, you can also put at most one pillowcase in each bag so as not to add too much to the load.
3. If you decide to use laundry detergent, make sure you’re using one with a neutral pH balance. At Pioneer Linens, we sell quality cleaning products by Le Blanc, perfectly made for linens using cotton, synthetic blends, and especially silk!
4. We STRONGLY advise you avoid using a dryer for your silk products. Instead hang them to try, without them getting affected by any strong sunlight. If you have to use the dryer, use the lightest setting you can.
5. Ironing your silk products isn’t recommended unless it gets really wrinkled. Silk tends to smooth over time, but if it doesn’t make sure you follow the care instructions on the tag before ironing to see if it’s safe.
